Croeso i Key Stage 2
Our Key Stage 2 consists of two classes:
Dosbarth Blorenge (Year 3/4) and Dosbarth Snowdownia (Year 5/6)
Science: This term your children will be completing a variety of classroom tasks around the subject of electricity and its safe usage around the home and wider context. In Dosbarth Blorenge learners will be introduced to simple electrical circuits and the symbols for components. In Snowdonia learners will investigate electrical circuits and the relationship between current and voltage and will be making their own variable resistors.
Humanities: Children will be learning geographical language and using coordinates to identify locations and use map symbols. Learners will find out how to be a global citizen and how the environment changes over time, including the effects of human interaction.
Welsh: Learners will be using daily incidental Welsh in their classrooms and throughout the school. In class learners will be following the Welsh language packs of Pod Antur Coch in Dosbarth Snowdonia and Pod Antur Porffor in Dosbarth Blorenge. In Blorenge learners will focus on the development of their reading skills and preparing for the Eisteddfod. In Snowdonia, learners will be developing their command of the past tense in their oracy, reading and writing.
ICT: The focus this term will be on using data handling skills across a range of tasks. This includes building databases using their Hwb accounts and using their databases to search records and fields, in addition to making a variety of graphs and charts to represent their findings.
DT: The children will once again be showcasing their plan, do and review skills and applying their product knowledge to their designs and builds. This term Snowdonuia learners will be looking at applying their scientific knowledge of circuits to lighting their Tudor houses. In Blorenge learners are building on their knowledge of levers to design and build a pop-up message board linked to the Geography strand of Global citizenship.
P.E. Wednesday and Thursday are P.E. days this term learners will need indoor kit only shorts, t-shirt and clean daps/trainers as they will be completing dance and gymnastics skills.
This term lessons will focus on choreography, communication and ways of travelling, twisting and jumping in various heights and speeds.
Homework:All KS2 children will continue to be bringing a book home for reading and are welcome to change their choices as often as they wish. In Snowdonia occasional maths homework will be sent in order to practise taught skills.
